Epic film about one of the UKs most iconic mountains available for HD Download
‘Life of a Mountain: Scafell Pike’, the new cinematic documentary celebrating a year in the life of England’s highest peak, will be available to download in full HD from SteepEdge films from Friday 16 May, following its world premiere on the IMAX style giant screen at the Rheged Centre and festival launch at Keswick Mountain Festival.
Life of a Mountain is only the second project from 37 year old Nottinghamshire based videographer Terry Abraham. The former IT worker’s directorial, feature debut, ‘The Cairngorms in Winter’ with Chris Townsend, scored a unexpected hit with outdoors enthusiasts last year, becoming SteepEdge’s most popular film of all time.
Crowd-funded via Indiegogo, the two hour film interweaves intimate portraits of the people who live, work and visit the mountain with stunning, sweeping panoramas of the Scafells and Wasdale, set to an original, orchestral score.
Starring Lakeland author and friend to Alfred Wainwright Mark Richards; author and long distance hiker Chris Townsend; legendary fell-runner Joss Naylor MBE; mountaineer Alan Hinkes; climber, television presenter and documentary producer Eric Robson and television researcher, producer and mountain guide David Powell-Thompson.
Director Terry Abraham said: “I’m driven by the desire to capture the British countryside at its very best and enlighten people about what’s here at home in Britain. I want to inspire people to visit places like the Lakes and to care for them. It’s a film that is just as much about the people as the mountain itself.”
“I want to bring back the romance and drama that so inspired the Lakeland poets and show people that this is the real deal – there’s no Photoshop or Hollywood studio. I’m just capturing beautiful scenes here in Britain that they can go and see for themselves. I hope I’ve created a little time capsule of life around this mountain that historians will be able to look back at in years to come.”
SteepEdge Director John Coefield said: “It’s a privilege to host Life of a Mountain. Terry’s one of the brightest new talents in the outdoors and adventure film industry. His Cairngorms film is a bestseller and Life of a Mountain takes his film-making to the next level with breath-taking scenery and fascinating characters. This is story-telling on an epic, ambitious scale that will take the audience on a journey through an incredible landscape.”
