The Montane Lakeland 100 Video report
This weekend, fro the 26th-28th July, the fells will be alive to the sights and sounds of heavy breathing and sweat- a lot of sweat- as the Lakeland 50+100 events take place.
Each year at the end of July competitors head out into the Lake District fells on a mammoth 100 mile route that takes in some of the lesser-visited parts of Cumbria’s mountains.
If you still can’t work out quite how a 100 mile running race works, check out this video from sponsors, Montane shot at last year’s race to see just how gruelling things can be. Unlike some of the videos of the US races, there is a fair amount of drizzle and grey skies involved, as you might imagine. All in though, without being too bombastic, the video really gets over the sense of quiet determination present in the runners and somehow manages to make the race achievable for mere mortals.
Who’s up for next year?
