Haglofs might be pricey, but as we found when we tested this zip tee on a series of hot, sweaty, fast runs, they get it spot on when it comes to comfort, fit and function.
The PULS is another offering from Haglofs that comes straight out of the top drawer. Clearly designed by runners, the PULS has a set of natty details that really count. The double weave fabric is light weight and superbly wicking. Sweat does not hang around – it just evaporates in seconds. Also the fit is perfect for long, hot runs. The arm length is decent enough for a bit of bramble protection, and when the zip is closed, the collar stands high enough up your neck to stave off pack-rash. The fit is roomy, too, which feels lovely and light when you’re on the move, but we’ve also teamed this up with a long sleeve base layer underneath, which works really well in cooler conditions.
The PULS is designed for hot work, though, and the long zip is great for venting. The zip moves freely and tucks neatly away under the chin guard. It was used a lot on a recent orienteering race above Easedale Tarn in the Lakes. Hot work!
There are the bare minimum of seams in the PULS, and those that are there are neatly flatlocked and not positioned anywhere they might rub. The tee is carefully thought out.
Of all the test tees in this group, the PULS has been used and abused the most. Astoundingly, it still doesn’t smell and there are no signs of wear from back or waist packs.
↑ The Good:
- Roomy and airy with excellent ventilation
- Fast wicking fabric
- High collar to prevent pack rash
↓ The not-so-good:
A great choice for a does-it-all running and hiking top that can be layered up or worn in hot, fast race conditions.
